Japanese painter’s artworks inspired by the tsunami, landscape and poems

Akira Kurosaki, a Japanese contemporary printer, will present three collections of his prints under the “Akira Kurosaki’s Woodcuts” exhibition at Ardel Gallery of Modern Art.

“The Forbidden Zone” depicts the sadness of the tsunami in Japan in 2011. It is Inspired by the artist’s childhood memories and Japanese landscape, “The Eight Views of Ōmi” tells stories through Korean handmade paper print. “The Man’yō” is a print of Japanese paper that is specially made to reflect the artist’s perception which is inspired by Japanese traditional poems.

The opening reception starts at 6:30pm on Jan. 22.
