Japanese man commits suicide in Bangkok’s Ploenchit Centre building

A 53-year old Japanese man plunged to his death overnight inside the Ploenchit Centre building on Sukhumvit Road, soi 2, Klong Toey district of Bangkok, police said on Monday morning.

The police said his body was discovered by the buiding electrician when he was doing his rounds and reported about 12.30am.

Pol Lt Col Akrawat Poompaisalchai, a deputy superintendent at Lumpini police station, said pictures from a security camera in the building showed that the man entered the building at 11.30pm on Sunday. He rode an elevator up to the sixth floor, which is the food centre, and then jumped from the balcony to his death, the Bangkok Post reported.
