Officials have asked for assistance from Israel in relocating thousands of Thai workers there after one was killed by a mortar attack yesterday.
The Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv has requested the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Israeli employers to help move around 4,000 Thai nationals working near Gaza at least 20 kilometers away from the conflict, according to state media. Employers were also asked to allow the worker to stop working for now.
The Department of Employment is working to return the body of Narakorn Kitiyangkul, 36 of Nan province, who was killed yesterday by artillery while working in a greenhouse just north of Gaza.
Narakorn was the third civilian killed in the 16 days of fighting which have killed nearly 700 Palestinians and 32 Israeli soldiers.
