Thai offcials are considering getting rid of the the temporary red license plate issued for brand new cars.
To prevent vehicle tax evasion, Department of Land Transport will discuss with dealerships the possibility of registering newly-bought cars before delivering them to the customers, said Director Thirapong Rodprasert.
Red plates are sometimes installed on cars used to commit crimes to avoid identification, he added.
Thirapong went on to urge new car owners to register their cars as soon as possible and reminded that the process to get a permanent black and white plate should only takes a day, Thai PBS reported.
