With no passengers to recline in back as they zip through traffic, some of Bangkok’s  iconic three-wheeled taxis have shifted to delivering everything from house plants to rice cookers.

Yet another group of people whose livelihoods have vanished as the public shelters in place, drivers of the vehicles synonymous with the Thai capital have banded together to replace some of their lost incomes.

Operated by a rental and tour service, Tuk Tuk X Delivery recently refit about 50 drivers and their vehicles into couriers servicing 19 districts of Bangkok including those downtown: Wattana, Khlong Toei, Bang Rak, Phra Nakhon and Chatuchak.

There’s no weight limit, but parcels must be no larger than 90 centimeters by 100 centimeters. Delivery fees start from THB180 for the first 10 kilometers from pickup.

The service guarantees same-day pickup and delivery.

Smiling Tuk Tuk is available 9am to 6pm. It can be reached via 095-943-9222 or messages to its Facebook page.
