Hundreds of couples make it official on Valentine’s Day

Hundreds of happy couples have traveled to Bang Rak, the district of love, to celebrate Valentine’s Day by making their love official.

Bang Rak district office has issued at least 300 marriage certificates this morning as the district is hosting a special Valentine’s event and gives away a gold plated marriage certificate to ten lucky couples every hour.

The first couple to win a golden marriage certificate is a Thai couple from Samut Sakhon, Montraporn Tangwipatkul, 27 and her husband Apichart Pholruay, 29, Daily News reported.

The couple married last year but decided to wait until Valentine’s Day to register for their marriage certificate because they believe it would make their love last forever.

They reportedly said: “We didn’t care about the gold plated certificate. We just wanted to register for one here at Bang Rak District on Valentine’s Day.”

Another interesting couple was a 30-year-old woman from Isaan, Chidsuda Suriyan, and her 60-year-old British boyfriend Peter, whom she met when she was 23.

“We have known each other for seven years. The thing about my husband that impresses me is his consistency and his kindness that he had shown me since the first day I met him. Although our age is 30 years apart, it’s not an obstacle to true love. As long as we understand each other, that’s enough,” Chidchanok said.
