A terrified horse was freed from a roadside drain by rescuers who spent over three hours widening the hole.
A half dozen or so equine emancipators were being celebrated today for their heroic rescue of 16-year-old mare Bod (or blind, as she’s sightless in one eye) by drilling and digging her out of the roughly 2-meter hole she had accidentally fallen into in northwest metro Bangkok.

Bod’s 50-year-old owner Nittaya Limalai said she looses her five horse every day so they can munch on grass along a nearby street in Nonthaburi’s Bang Bua Thong district. She suspects that Bod’s limited eyesight was a factor in her unfortunate misstep.
After Nittaya was unable to free Bod, she solicited help from rescuers and others in the area. Footage of Monday’s rescue went big online just today.
Footage of the rescue shows the rescuers using multiple tools to free the nag, including drills, a backhoe and a good ole’ shovel. One man is seen holding and petting Bod to calm her throughout the ordeal.
In the end, rescuers wrapped a long piece of cloth around the steed and hoisted her from the drain. With the support, Bod was able to summon her strength to pull herself free of the hole – to the cheers of those watching.
