A Chinese woman who stripped down to her thong aboard a Chiang Mai songthaew for TikTok has prompted the obligatory pearl-clutching in the Rose of the North.
In clips posted over several days, Chinese internet idol Huanxi59 struck provocative poses as she removed her clothes, sparking concerns she had tarnished the city’s reputation. In the first clip, watched more than a million times since it was posted Friday, she shows off a tiny thong as the songthaew drives around during sunset.
The head of the company which operates Chiang Mai’s songthaew service, Sahakorn Lanna, said that while he had definitely watched the clips – he did not note how many times – the driver was unaware of the steamy shoot. He said he would make it his personal and professional mission to prevent similar incidents from happening.
The footage looked to be taken around the epicenter of Chiang Mai tourism, the Tha Phae Gate.
In other clips, Huanxi59, who has more than 240,000 followers, strips down to her scant excuse for lingerie at other Chiang Mai locations including a Haidilao hotpot restaurant.
