UPDATE, May 11, 6:40pm: The woman has passed away, according to Sanook.

A horrific video circulated online last night showing a woman on a mobile phone getting hit by a car in Chonburi province and her body flying across the road.

The woman, identified as 40-year-old Sudchada Bureepia, survived the accident. She suffered a broken skull and was sent to Phyathai Sriracha Hospital.

Her husband, Prasong, said his wife had taken their daughter to a hospital before walking home, which is when the accident occurred.

Mangkorn Somsut, the driver who hit Suchada, said that he didn’t see the woman, Manager reported. It is not yet know what charges he will face.

The video was widely shared on local media as a reminder for pedestrians to be careful while crossing the road. Though it should also be noted that drivers need to watch for pedestrians at all times.
