Hormonal trailer gives glimpses of teen drama’s angsty return

More than a year after its first season became a fanatical sensation among teens, Hormones returns to television next month.

After a long wait since its run ended in August, the boundary-pushing teen drama released its official trailer yesterday promising epic moments of adolescent angst such as girl fights, love triangles, jealous rages and gay boyfriends, but it remains to be seen if the series will recapture and expand its fanbase or put them to sleep.

From the trailer, the season features a lot of furrowed brows and anguished expressions in scenes which could be taken from any formulaic lakorn on the market. Much likely rides on whether Hormones –  which provoked censors in its first season for addressing teen sex, smoking and drug use – manages to push further into social commentary at a time when such scrutiny seems more discouraged than usual.

Of course teen-drama addicts will drool over seeing their beloved characters return to slog through the confusion and conflicts of adolescence once more.

Watch the first episode of “Hormones 2” at 10pm on July 12 through GMM Z and GTH On Air. As with the first season, episodes will be uploaded to YouTube and eventually subtitled in English.
