Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau suffered a spinal injury after he fell from horseback while filming in Thailand.
The 55-year-old star arrived in Thailand on Jan. 16 to film a commercial outside of Bangkok, which required a scene of him riding a horse, Manager Online reported
While he was on the horse, it suddenly threw him off and stomped on him. The accident reportedly caused him bone fractures.
He was immediately sent to a local hospital, and has since been transferred to a Hong Kong hospital on an emergency medical plane.
Known in Thailand by his Mandarin name, Liu Dehua, he is dubbed one of the “Four Heavenly Kings of Cantopop,” a term for the four biggest Hong Kong male superstars, which also included Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai.
Lau has performed in over 180 movies, but he gained popularity among Thai fans from his leading role in “A Moment of Romance” (1990) and “Full Throttle” (1995). His latest Hollywood epic movie “The Great Wall,” also starring Matt Damon, is currently being shown in Thai theaters.
