Vendors at a market in central Pattaya claim a big old hole is putting a damper on business.
The problem is, tourists keep falling into the hole and getting hurt, which doesn’t put them in the mood to buy Nutella crepes or fake Vuitton, Superdry, and Billabong.
Sellers at Mae Wilai Torung market weren’t getting any help from officials when they asked to have the meter-wide and meter-deep hole in the sidewalk filled, so they called the Sophon Cable TV crew to film the obstruction.

The hole was caused by a burst pipe late last year, which was repaired, but the hole was left open.
Pakachat Surin, owner of a food stall, claims she reported the hole to officials and has seen many people hurt there.
She noticed that Sophon did a great job of drawing attention to Pattaya’s filthy beach recently and thought they might be able to help with the hole as well, reported ThaiVisa.
We’ve reached out to Pattaya’s Waterworks Authority for comment on repairing the hole, but they asked us to call back tomorrow. If they share any information with us, we will update this story.
