Hit-and-run driver turns himself in

ABOVE: Amateur sleuths of CSI LA assembled this collage this afternoon identifying the suspected hit-and-run driver in a fatal Monday accident.

A most-sought-after driver who ran away from the scene where he killed a Bangkok cyclist Monday night turned himself in this afternoon after being identified by amateur online investigators.

Saran Inthanil, 23, decided to turn himself in to police this afternoon after the CSI LA Facebook community identified him as the driver who crashed his car into a trio of cyclists on Ratchada-Ram Intra Road, killing Thanyakorn Densirimongkol, 31, and injuring two others.

Saran told police he was driving the Honda Jazz with his friend who owned it on Monday night. Saran said he was arguing with his girlfriend on the phone, causing him to lose control and crash into the cyclists.

Photos of Saran fleeing the scene circulated online today. Saran said he panicked, so he ran away and got a lawyer.

His lawyer offered THB250,000 bail money. Releasing Saran on bail is still being considered, Daily News reported.
