Hilarious satire video teaches how to ‘stay safe’ and best enjoy a Bangkok bus

Anyone who has taken a public bus in Bangkok — especially the infamous, always speeding bus No. 8 — knows what it’s like to cling to your seat and pray you don’t fall off when the driver hits the brake.

This lol-heavy video, called “Demonstration on how stay safe in a bus,” by Salmon House, smartly grasps every horrible moment of riding the bus and suggests some useful tips in a form that parodies a flight attendant’s inflight video demonstration. All Bangkokians who take public transportation will definitely relate.

These safety tips are recommended by your bus conductor:

Although our bus has one door, in case of emergency, you can climb out through your nearest emergency exit.

This bus is equipped with a natural breeze of air. We also offer hand fans in economy class.

A battery-operated pocket fan for business class.

And air-con for first class (Admit it, you laughed when you saw this hi-so woman riding the bus with a portable aircon).

Bored? This bus is equipped with inflight entertainment. Create your own artwork by graffiti-ing the seat in front of you. Please bring your own marker.

If you don’t want to give up a seat for those in need, we have a “no-f*cks-given” eyemask that allows you to ignore the elderly, children, monks and pregnant chicks.

Feel free to dump your trash anywhere in the bus. Thai people are forgiving and easy-going. You can also throw it out the window if you are a do-gooder.

At times, vocational college students may get into violent fights on the bus. Don’t worry, they are just very passionate. For these moments, a bullet-proof vest has been provided under your seat.

Last but not least, in case the driver is speeding and you fear for your safety, Buddha pendant necklaces will be released from above.

Please put the amulet on yourself first before assisting children or the elderly.

Then together, we will pray for our lives to the Buddha.
