We’re a long way from Colorado.
After openly selling bud via Facebook for a year, the “Original Weed” shop was busted by police on Saturday.
“Original Weed. Oshi-tung Green Marijuana. 100% organic weed. Must try!” compelled the sales pitch, a play off a popular green tea slogan that was unsparing in its subtlety.
Police arrested shop operators Nutcharee Koonprasert, 25, and Saroj Apaisawet, 26 on Saturday and raided their home in Nonthaburi province where they seized five kilograms of marijuana, a scale and other equipment.
Police said the couple simply fielded messages via Facebook, had customers transfer money online, and then shipped out the drugs by post. Nutcharee was busted by police at the Bang Yai post office where she traveled Saturday to ship some weed.
One must wonder how they dreamed up such a brilliant enterprise that would prove so difficult to trace. Or more seriously, how this went on for a year?
In case the electronic bank transfers weren’t enough evidence, police also recovered two notebooks full of customer contacts, which they intend to use to track down their customers for prosecution.
Saroj told police they bought the goods from an anonymous lady who goes by the name “big sister” for THB9,000 per kilogram to resell on Facebook for THB1,300 per 100 grams.
Police said they’ll track down “big sister.” Meanwhile the couple has been charged with selling drugs, Thairath reported.
