The Ministry of Labor is encouraging high school students to consider pursuing vocational education, as the market has high demands for new workers.
The Ministry of Labor inspector general said a survey on labor demands from October 2016 to April 2017 saw a total of 219,896 vacancies for all jobs. Among these available positions, 82,022 positions require graduates of vocational schools, 71,759 positions for students with high-school diplomas and only 29,639 positions for those with a bachelor degree or higher.
Such figure shows the high demands for persons with vocational degrees, thus students currently at the junior high school level should consider advancing their education in vocational schools which will enable them to have income while studying, and have a job secured for them after graduation.
Graduates from vocational schools can enhance their incomes by taking the Department of Skill Development’s standard tests to allow them to have up to THB815 in daily income, National News Bureau of Thailand reported.
