Hey kids! Wanna sit in PM Prayuth’s big chair? Saturday you can.

Dream that your little one will grow up to one day seize power by force and refuse to let go long after their welcome grew cold?

On Saturday, parents can sit their children on the very seat of power – the prime minister’s chair at the Government House. Maybe they too won’t want to leave it.

Take photos of your future prime ministers there and around Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha’s office when the Government House opens to the public for Children’s Day. For 2023’s motto – an annual tradition – Prayuth has come up with his usual scolding imperative: “Know your duty, have discipline, and do good deeds.”

A variety of activities await from 8am to 3pm at the century-old neo-Venetian building located in the old quarter, according to political affairs spokesperson Anucha Burachaisri. They include sports, food culture, history, promotion of Thai etiquette, song performances, and films in honor of King Rama X.

There will also be an technology exhibition featuring games, robots, dinosaurs, microcars and karts, esports competitions, and a 7,000 soccer ball giveaway. A go-green activity encourages children to bring bottles and cans for recycling.

Dream that your little one will grow up to be an underpaid reporter trying to hold truth to power? The Naree Samosorn Building will be open for children to practice reading news in a facsimile of the press room.
