Heavy rain and flooding means some cars have lost their license plates, but drivers can easily request a replacement from the Land Transport Department.

For vehicles registered in Bangkok, owners can visit the main department office on Phaholyothin Road in the Chatuchak district with their vehicle registration and identification. In the provinces, they should head to the responsible provincial transport office.

Anyone handling it for someone else will need power of attorney. The cost is THB100 per plate plus a THB5 processing fee. New plates will be received within 15 business days.

In Bangkok, the Land Transport Department is located at 1032 Phaholyothin Road.

Transport officials warned that anyone misusing plates from another vehicle faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to THB10,000.
