“Sek Loso,” a rock star famous in the 1990s, was escorted from Bangkok to southern Nakhon Si Thammarat province yesterday where he is facing charges for shooting into the air at a temple fair after his holiday performance.
In an incident that took place on Friday morning, “Sek Loso” or Seksan Suphimai, 43, live-streamed himself on Facebook firing 10 gunshots into the air in front of the King Taksin statue at Wat Khao Khun Phanom in the southern province.
Police raided his home in Bangkok and arrested him on Sunday after a warrant searching his arrest for illegal possession of firearm and carrying it and firing in in public was approved, according to the Bangkok Post.
He has been additionally charged with resisting arrest after the police had to climb his house’s fence and break down his bedroom door to arrest him.
Sek Loso told reporters he only wanted to pay respect to the statue of King Taksin. In the video, he is seen lighting candles and joss sticks to honor the king before taking out his gun and shooting it into the sky.
“I apologized to the Thai people for this inappropriate action. I’ll speak about it later,” he said at a press conference at the Metropolitan Police Bureau on Sunday.
Asked if there was any music or work for his fans to look forward to, Sek Loso only mentioned his 90s hit “Jai Sang Ma” translated to “My Heart told Me to.”
Then he said, “I previously took an oath that if I got a baby boy, I’d do this,” he said without elaborating.
Today he will face another round of interrogations by Nakhon Si Thammarat police, who ensured the musician will not receive VIP treatment, Bangkok Post reported.
Sek Loso may face another charge for drug use if his urine test returns positive.
