Halloween Massacre at Full Metal Dojo 7

Full Metal Dojo hosted FMD7: Full Metal Massacre on Saturday, Oct 31st at Insanity Nightclub, Sukhumvit soi 12, Bangkok.

The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event saw 10 Pro MMA fights with some of the best up-and-coming fighters in the region making a name for themselves on the big stage.

FMD7 had a number of current and former UFC stars in attendance, including Mike Swick, the founder of AKA Thailand, Vaughan Lee with Phuket Top Team, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto supporting The Bangkok Fight Lab, and Tommy Hayden with The Hero Factory in Bangkok.

The FMD7 headlining fight was won by 19-year-old Pongsiri ‘Piak’ Mitsatit, ‘The Smiling Assassin’, from Team Quest, Chiang Mai, who extended his unbeaten record to 6-0 with a confident win over Wisava Kaweewarakorn. After some early exchanges, Piak got himself into full mount and threw down a torrent of ground and pound punches and elbows to force referee Olivier Coste to stop the fight. With his fourth victory at FMD, Piak cements his position as one of the most exciting Strawweight prospects in Asia.

The co-main event marked the MMA debut of highly-regarded former two time World Wrestling Champion, Iranian Amir Aliakbari. He trains alongside Heavyweight UFC stars Mark Hunt and Soa Palelei in Mike Swick’s new AKA Thailand gym in Phuket, and is already being touted as a future UFC Heavyweight Champion. He made short work of his opponent, Korean Hyung Chul-Lee by forcing him on his back and raining down hammerfists until referee Dana Blouin jumped in after just 17 seconds.

The first ever meeting between local rivals AKA Thailand and Phuket Top Team ended in victory for the latter after Lebanon’s Yousef Wehbe got the decision over Russian Nikolai Kozyrev in a hard-fought grappling contest.

‘Fight of the Night’ honours went to Weerayuth ‘Yut’ Uttapan from Raw Team, Bangkok and Hisyam Sams from Borneo Tribal Squad, Malaysia, after Yut got the decision, in a back and forth 3-round war of attrition, the Malaysian sucking up multiple soccer kicks but staying up.

Another teen prospect, Cambodian Top Team’s Thai Rithy, saw his unbeaten run come to an end with a slick armbar from Jaroslav Jartim from Legacy Gym, Ubon Ratchathani.

MAX Muay Thai Champ Yodkaikaew Fairtex scored his first win in MMA with a dominant performance over Jennarong Cherdsook, ending with a vicious knee to the stomach that floored the Hero Factory rookie.

American Ricardo Sanati won comfortably in his Asian MMA debut, as he looks to help build The Bangkok Fight Lab’s MMA team into world-beaters.

Tanabadee ‘Ninjaman’ Supparukephusakun scored his second win in two FMD events over Sarayut ‘Ness’ Kurubvong of Boxer Rebellion in Bangkok, and there were well-earned wins for Jhaymie Gayman from Fightcorps, Philippines and Wirrat ‘Yodrachan’ Fairtex form Fairtex Gym, Pattaya.

Full Metal Dojo host and founder, Jon Nutt, said, “This event crushed it! One of the most fun events we’ve ever done. Everyone in the place was partying like mad people! Truly an awesome FMD Full Metal Massacre Halloween bloodbath party fight night event. Mind blowing. I’d like to thank all the FMD fans for coming out and all of our fighters, officials, teams, and sponsors for making rock ‘n roll MMA magic happen once again! Kudos to Weerayuth ‘Yut’ Pinyopon and Hisyam ‘Zephorus’ Sams, on ‘Fight of the Night’ and the future looks bright! And with that! See you all down in Phuket this 27th of December for FMD8!”

Full Metal Dojo will be moving down to Phuket with three shows announced for the winter high season.

FMD8 will be on Dec 27th in Seduction Nightclub on Bangla Road in Patong Beach, Phuket. This will be followed by FMD9 on Feb 7th and FMD10 on March 20th, both at Seduction Nightclub. The events see FMD return to Phuket for the first time since their first two events in 2014.
