One of Thailand’s greatest kickboxers will face his greatest enemy at a historic boxing stadium in Bangkok in another highly anticipated match of the year.
After knocking out a Japanese heartthrob at a sold-out August show, legendary Thai fighter Buakaw Banchamek will return to the ring at Rajadamnern Stadium later this month to fight Yoshihiro Sato, the only fighter to defeat him by knockout.
Marking the first time in nearly 10 years Buakaw and Sato will meet in the ring, the compelling grudge match will take place Oct. 28. Tickets available online range from THB1,200 to THB3,500.
In 2008, Sato knocked Buakaw unconscious in Tokyo at the K-1 World Max championship. To this day, Sato remains the only fighter to do so. Buakaw’s 2013 attempt to avenge his loss ended in a split decision by the judges.
Sato, aka Infinite Sniper, was a former Muay Thai champion who won Japan’s K-1 tournament in 2006 and 2007.
Just two months ago, Buakaw knocked 20-year-old MMA fighter Kota Miura in the third round at a sold-out show.
