The great squat toilet purge continues

The Department of Health has announced that it will carry on its “Clean Toilets” project after the third phase of the project has been given a green light by the Cabinet.

After presiding over the opening ceremony of the “Clean Toilets” project, Department of Health Director General Jessada Chokedamrongsuk said the department had been working hard to change all squat toilets to sitting toilets, especially for kids, in order to create healthy habits among children as well as to teach them the correct way to use a toilet. The Department claims that this program will benefit not only the children, but also the elderly, given that they can no longer squat.

This is the third phase of the plan, approved by the Cabinet for completion between 2013 and 2016, which focuses on developing toilets in public areas including government buildings, educational institutions, tourist attractions and gas stations.
