Here we go again. Another day, another GrabBike rider harassed and assaulted by motorbike taxis.
Footage of a rider with private ride-hailing app GrabBike being beaten by at least three motorbike taxis in Soi Sukhumvit 48 has been going viral this morning since it was posted by a woman concerned for the safety of the driver and herself.

“Hi Grab, you better take responsibility for your driver’s life,” wrote Facebook user Amittaa Phongsawat, who posted the video and tagged the Singapore-based ridesharing company. “Where is the security for your users and drivers?”
Amittaa filmed the video in front of the Aspire condominium in the soi, which is located near Phra Khanong intersection. She said she booked the GrabBike driver to take her from her place to the gym as usual. While they were riding out, one motorbike taxi guy attacked her driver, at which point more motorbike taxis jumped in. Footage shows them landing hard punches and helmet swings against the man.
Amittaa said she was also hit in the face during the melee.
Ride-sharing services remain unregulated in Thailand, and traditional drivers of taxis, tuk-tuks and win motosai have often gone after drivers of the app-based transport services.
