The Department of Medical Sciences has issued a warning to Thai consumers against the use low-quality plastic ware.
According to the Department, plastic ware sold at markets throughout Thailand often contains fake melamine, which can be carcinogenic if put into contact with acids or intense heat.
In a statement released via the National News Bureau of Thailand, Dr. Niphon Popattanachai said that Thailand has no laws in place meant to deal with fake melamine, therefore it falls to consumers to exercise caution in their purchases.
