Gov. Sukhumbhand un-governored while court considers his fate

Bangkok Gov. Sukhumbhand Paribatra is off the job as of now while a court considers whether to remove him from office.

After election officials rules he violated campaign law one year after his re-election, Sukhumbhand is expected to be notified of his suspension from duties as soon as Monday.

An appeals court is taking up the case and will make the decision whether he can remain in office or be forced to contest the seat again.

The commission faulted Sukhumbhand, a Democrat, for unfairly disparaging Pheu Thai candidate police Gen. Pongsapat Pongcharoen during last year’s campaigning, Bangkok Post reported.
