Go away, traffic: BTS extension Bearing – Samutprakarn coming in 2018

The extension of the BTS Sukhumvit Line from Bearing station to Samutprakarn province is expected to be fully operational in 2018 — two years earlier than scheduled.

The extension, which stretches 13 kilometers and includes nine new stations, is expected to ease the traffic congestion in Bang Na and the industrial area of Samutprakarn province where many factories are located, Taweesak Lertprapan, Director of Traffic and Transportation Department, said today.

He said that the civil works are about 90 percent complete and that officials plan to rush the opening of Samrong station, which is next to Bearing station, in March of 2017 in order to facilitate residents in the area.

The rest of the line will open in 2018.

The fares to ride to the additional stations have not been announced, Nation TV reported.
