‘Ghost’ girl abandoned nine years receives new home

A young girl abandoned by her family nine years ago on suspicion of being a “ghost” has a new home today.

After new spread of “Nong Kiew,” the Ubon Ratchathani child abandoned at age 3, the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation stepped in yesterday to take her in.

Kiew was first taken to a government-run children’s home for evaluation. There she will be fed and sheltered while a psychiatrist evaluates her condition for five days at the facility operated by the Office of Social Development and Human Security.

After five days, Kiew will be transferred to the foundation’s housing, where she will be provided room, board and education starting Monday.

Kiew said she was grateful for the opportunity and promises to study hard to become a constructive member of society. She will also pursue her dream to become a doctor to help others.
