A German man was arrested yesterday after authorities found 243 cannabis plants around his home in Hua Hin, although he said they’re all for medical purposes.
The 46-year-old German with a Thai last name, Zhear Kwangkanok Kanokkamsin, reportedly admitted to owning all the marijuana plants and products found around his home, but he told the police they are for cancer treatment.
Authorities destroyed all 243 plants and seized a variety of cannabis products yesterday including 1.5 kilograms of compressed marijuana, 376 grams of cannabis, 10 liters of cannabis-infused whiskey, and paraphernalia.
The police also found a list of names, which are assumed to be his customers, a bank book with a THB90,000 balance, and some postal boxes, which police suspect are for shipping marijuana to his customers.

It is reported that Zhear speaks Thai fluently because he has lived in Thailand for over 10 years and used to be married to a Thai woman, but she left him because he smoked a whole lot of weed, Khaosod reported.
Police doubted that the plants are for medical purposes as Zhear had admitted to having been a marijuana user for a long time, and he had allegedly sold pot to teenagers in the area.
Zhear will be prosecuted.
