A German man was stabbed in the neck yesterday as he waited for a taxi with his girlfriend at a bus stop next to Bangkok’s Mo Chit BTS station.
Bang Sue Police Station received a report of the stabbing in front of Chatuchak park at about 2pm yesterday.
According to Khaosod, 63-year-old Peter Specht was standing with his Thai girlfriend when the perpetrator — identified as 41-year-old Thai national Winai Homniam — walked over and stabbed him with a knife before attempting to flee.
Winai, however, was captured and subdued by a motorbike-taxi driver who ran after him after witnessing the crime.
Spect was then rushed to the emergency room at Paolo Memorial Hospital on Phahonyothin Road.
The 3-centimeter-long wound on the right side of Specht’s neck was reportedly so deep it cut into the fatty subcutaneous tissue below the skin.
According to Healthwise, a nonprofit health organization, what police described would be considered a stage three wound, one away from the most serious.
When interviewed by Morning News, Winai didn’t make a lot of sense, telling reporters that he regularly carries a knife with him and this stabbing was an “accident’.

According to police, testing show that Winai was not under the influence at the time of the attack. They plan to perform a psychological assessment on him this week.
