German man jumps to his death at Suvarnabhumi (VIDEO)

A German man jumped to his death at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday afternoon.

The 45-year-old man, who took a running leap to vault over a railing on the fourth-floor walkway linking the airport’s parking structure and the departure terminal, died later at Samitivej Hospital due to head and neck injuries.

The man’s suicide was captured in security camera footage inexplicably released by the Rescue Volunteer Thailand community, the man is seen dragging his suitcase to the spot before getting a running start to dive headfirst over the fence.

The man’s identity was reported in local media reports, but it’s unclear whether his family has been notified, so Coconuts is withholding his name.

The German reportedly entered Thailand on Feb. 15 and was scheduled to leave on March 16. The German embassy has been notified of his death, according to Thai Visa News.

Since the airport opened, it has seen frequent suicides by foreign nationals, prompting Airports of Thailand to announce it would install high glass walls.
