The German convict who was able to escape his security detail at Suvarnabhumi was discovered to have hid in the airport for 30 hours before escaping, Airports of Thailand (AoT) chairman Sita Divari revealed.
Sita added that the fact that the fugitive was able to go undetected for that long has sparked concerns regarding the lax airport security.
According to Sita, the investigation revealed that the German national hid in the power generator room until he was able to escape through the fire exit.
For his part, Pol Lt Gen Panu blames the two guards that were hired by the Australian government for not keeping a closer watch, the Bangkok Post reported.
