Ferrari 458 Challenge race car
Bangkok’s Super Car and Import Car show is in full swing at Impact Arena, and this year’s rendition of the show is getting car nerds very, very excited. Unlike the annual Auto show, the Super Car show focuses exclusively on high-end sport and luxury cars. No Honda Accords here, folks. There’s lots of tech talk and highly modified cars around the exhibition hall, but what you won’t find are an overabundance of pretties strutting around, unfortunately.
The usual suspects are putting on an impressive display, with Ferrari showing its 458 Challenge racecar as well as the controversially designed FF. The FF’s shooting brake design is a departure from Ferrari’s usual sporty curves and sexy lines. Get a glimpse of the vehicle in the metal at Impact Arena this week and see where you stand on Ferrari’s first sedan.
Italy’s other well-known marque, Lamborghini, brought along an assortment of bulls, including a rare matte black Aventador, the poster-quality hypercar launched in 2011. The Aventador is what people come to see, but the Murcielago and Gallardo are on display in beautiful shades as well.

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
Just a supercar alone isn’t enough; it needs to be modified to earn respect. Luckily HRE and Akropovic were on hand to display the latest collections of wheels and exhaust systems to outfit already-insanely-powerful speed demons. Techart and A.C. Shnitzer, aftermarket tuning firms for Porsches and BMW cars have both a 2013 Porsche Boxster with the Techart treatment and a 3-series BMW clad with aftermarket body panels on display – an interesting treat for German petrolheads as these vehicles are rarely purchased due to their prohibitive price.

Mercedes 300SL
The real gem at this year’s show is the large space dedicated to Grand Touring, a new company focused on bringing classic car culture to Southeast Asia. Grand Touring curated an interesting collection of Gran Turismo cars from recent decades spanning back to the 1950s. One of the first 911s in Bangkok makes an appearance along with a duo of Italian roadsters from the ‘70s, the Graduate and the Scout by Alfa Romeo. The RWB club of Thailand is out in full force with a barrage of tuned Porsche 911s by Nakai-San, a Porsche tuning god who has been flown in from Japan to work on these classic German sports cars.

Alfa Romeo Giuletta
The show runs until the nineteenth, so make sure to head on over to Impact Arena to catch a glimpse of these whips – or just wander around the streets of Thong Lor to see these feats of engineering adorning the parking lots of trendy bars.
