A famous Thai soap opera actress has created waves by announcing she will elope from the kingdom to marry her girlfriend in the West.
Ampha “Aew” Phusit, who returned to lakorn not long ago and was most recently cast as Tayai Lae in the successful Thong Nuea Kao, has been in a two-year relationship with Rangsiya “Jane” Mueangkaew.
Neither same-sex marriage nor civil unions are legal in Thailand.
Ampha said she was surprised by her fans’ surprise at the news.
Don′t see us as tom and dee,” she said. “Don′t see us as lesbians. We are just two people who understand each other. We belong to each other. That is all.”
The two will likely marry next year in a European country, Khaosod reported.
