Gamers who attended the launch party of the online action game Daybreak at the Aloft Hotel, Sukhumvit last Wednesday were less than impressed with the female models in bikinis and shirtless male models.
The semi-nude parade caused some of those in attendance to question the thinking behind the marketing ploy as the models are irrelevant to the contents of the game.
“So if the event host chose bikini models to promote their game, that just means there’s nothing worthy about this game. I don’t know why they even bothered” one gamer commented.
Famous Thai Facebook page Plu Plod Ploi RISES responded to the faux pas by changing their cover photo to the message: “Stop hurting the online game industry with your boobs and ass.”
Daybreak already has over 30 million players after its launch in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
The Thai gamers, however, suggested that Cosplay models would have been more appropriate.
