A Frenchman and Thai woman were shot dead yesterday at a downtown cold cuts deli in what police suspect was a business dispute with its owner.

Marc Lohberger, 66, and Wiranya Meeyai, 43, were found dead Wednesday afternoon inside a three-story house on Soi Sukhumvit 49/6. The property houses a delicatessen called Copa Deli that belonged to French chef David Bouton, 48, who was taken to nearby Samitivej Hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip.

Rungaroon Thusiwan, the deli’s assistant chef, told police that Lohberger and Wiranya arrived to the house at around noon and came in to talk to Bouton. They went into a storage room together, shortly after which at least four gunshots were fired.

Police suspect the trio were in a business dispute, according to Maj. Gen. Chokchai Namwong, metro police deputy commander. They will review CCTV footage and further question Bouton and other witnesses.
