Four face inquiry for 3G auction irregularities

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission

Four people from the committee that organized the third generation (3G) mobile spectrum auction last October may face an inquiry after a panel has discovered irregularities in the design of the auction, says the Bangkok Post.

The subcommittee for the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) uncovered several irregularities with the auction’s design. They said that the irregularities could affect members of the telecom committee of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

However, a source inside the NBTC was quoted in the same report as having said that the inquiry will not affect current 3G users. If the subcommittee arrives at a conclusion, they will have to forward their findings to the NACC’s board for consideration, the source added.
