A former ambassador to Chile and Bhutan and his wife were almost roasted alive in their car yesterday after the LPG gas system malfunctioned.
Pittaya Pukkaman, 66, and his wife were driving in Ayutthaya province when their friends driving behind noticed smoke coming from the engine of their Mercedes C200.
The couple quickly pulled over and jumped out of the vehicle just before it burst into flames.
A firetruck was deployed, and it took 30 minutes to put out the fire.
Authorities believe the flames were caused by a malfunction in the vehicle’s LPG gas and electrical systems, Rama IX News reported.
