An official of the Royal Forest Department in Tak province was immediately fired after it was learned that he allegedly killed endangered animals and posted photos of their carcasses on Facebook, inviting his friends to eat the animals.

According to Forest Department Director Cholathit Suraswadee, forestry specialist Jakkrit Chinpetch was sacked pending investigation of the photos of carcasses on Facebook.

The photos feature a number of jungle cats and palm civets, MThai reported.

Jakkrit, however, told his organization that he did not kill the animals, but they were killed by dogs so he took photos of their carcasses and posted them on Facebook.

The department will investigate whether the animals were shot with a gun or killed by other animals. A conclusion is expected at the end of the month.
