Foreign investment in Thailand this year could reach THB1 trillion, higher than the originally projected figure of THB700 billion, the Industry Ministry revealed.
In a report from the Nation, Industry Minister Prasert Boonchaisuk said applications from Japanese companies are bound to increase since Japanese investors have already applied for 216 projects worth THB149 billion during the first quarter of the year alone.
The value of the projects during the first four months is high, which suggests that the total value for this year could likely reach THB1 trillion, Mr. Boonchaisuk said. He noted that these Japanese investors are very interested in Thailand’s environment-management system.
