Two men working for a popular food delivery application in Krabi province were busted Sunday after cops say they caught them transporting weed and kratom juice.
Delivery Hero, the firm that manages Foodpanda in Thailand, announced that it had fired two employees – Satit Krajangros, 35, and 30-year-old Narongwit Chomai – after they were arrested and charged with drug possession.
Satit was pulled over at a checkpoint and found to have three bottles of cloth-wrapped kratom juice wrapped in his pink delivery box, according to Col. Apitchat Jinapen of Ao-Nang Police.
At another checkpoint, police arrested Narongwit with 800 grams of kratom plant in a plastic bag along with a liter of kratom juice and 3.6 grams of brick weed.
Both men told police that they certainly weren’t delivering the goods to customers, but rather needed all of that for personal use.
Kratom is a natural stimulant with a long history of use in Thailand. Consumption for medical purposes was made legal along with cannabis in early 2019.
