Five dead workers in crane collapse may have caused their own demise

On Tuesday, five construction workers died at a job site on Rama IX Road after a crane fell over. Today, police said it might have been the workers’ fault.

The secretary to the city’s governor, Yuttapan Meechai, inspected the site and noted that the crane may not have been put together properly.

Since the workers put it together themselves, the accident would be caused by them. Those that died in the accident were four Thai workers and one Cambodian worker. They were working at the site of Shrewsbury International School, reported Khaosod English.

Deputy chief of Makkasan police, Col. Suebpong Karuna, clarified that the police have not yet concluded the reason for the crane’s deadly fall. Today, officers were back to the site with engineers who they hoped could give some expert advice on what had happened there.

The project was being managed by Ritta Co., a construction company but no one has yet been charged in the incident or the deaths.
