Five Cambodians arrested in Koh Kut over assault, rape of French tourists

Thai police arrested five Cambodians on Koh Kut island yesterday over the rape and assault of a group of French tourists.

Trat police said the Cambodians assaulted four French tourists with knives and sticks on Saturday night after they anchored their fishing boat on the resort island, leaving three of the tourists badly injured, AP reported.

As one tourist ran to get help from a nearby hotel, the two female tourists were raped, said Trat police chief Maj Gen Nopparat Rintapon.

The victims were being treated in hospital.
