First Look: Don Mueang new terminal already busy, no sign of WWII aircraft replica

Don Mueang International Airport officially opened its newly-renovated Terminal 2 today to accommodate the increasing numbers of budget airline passengers.

Terminal 2, which was opened to handle heavy traffic during the New Year holiday, is reserved for domestic flight check-ins. Six airlines are now operating at the new terminal including Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Smile, Thai Lion Air, Orient Thai and R Airlines, according to Airports of Thailand.

From now on, Terminal 1 will serve international passengers only.

JS100 reported the first day at Terminal 2 was already busy. Travelers are encouraged to arrive early for check-in.

While the mock-up illustration of the terminal features a World War II-era German Luftwaffe fighter, the sad-looking Christmas tree seems to be the only airport decor today.
