Firm hired to investigate rail link between Bangkok and Rayong

An engineering firm engaged by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is investigating the feasibility of a high-speed rail link between Bangkok and Rayong.

For THB251 million, Asian Engineering Consulting Corp is to conduct a 14-month study into the possibility of building a 221-kilometer rail line between the two cities.

When (and if) completed, this rail line will carry passengers at a rate of 250 kilometers per hour, closing the distance in about an hour and 15 minutes.

The Bangkok Post reports that the THB100.63 project is slated for a 2019 completion.
