Flames ripped through a Bangkok warehouse last night, burning up more than 400 vehicles on their way to auction.
The cause of the fire at the Siam Inter Auction building in the eastern district of Saphan Sung has yet to be determined, Pracha Meungmatcha of Bangchan police said this morning, adding that he was still inspecting the damage and questioning witnesses. No one was hurt.
It took firefighters about an hour to douse the flames that erupted in the auction company’s motorcycle warehouse at about 7pm. Video of the fire circulating on social media shows it burning out of control. An unidentified voice is heard saying, “There’s no way it can be contained. … There’s so much fire inside.”

Photos of the aftermath shows row after row of motorbikes grilled to oblivion. The total damage was still being calculated, though some reports place it as high as THB10 million (US$328,000.)
Established in 2004, Siam Inter Auction is a popular auction house with 18 locations nationwide. According to its website, the Bangkok headquarters’ sits on 4.5 hectares (28 rai) of land and can accommodate about 2,000 cars and 5,000 motorcycles.
