A fire broke out shortly after the stroke of midnight this morning by a discount clothing market in Bangkok’s old quarter and swiftly consumed the seven-story building.
Firefighters had to break through a steel door and use several hoses to extinguish the blaze that torched the building after starting on the second floor. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported.

Police are still working to determine the cause of the fire, Nang Loeng police chief Somyot Udomraksasap told Coconuts Bangkok this morning.
Although Col. Somyot said that it was Bobae Tower than burned, witnesses said it was a shophouse across the street. The cost of the damage was yet unknown. Shopkeepers were still calculating the extent of their losses.
