FC Barcelona arrived at Thai Army Stadium this morning for a behind closed doors training session. The team bus with Neymar, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and Puyol emblazoned on either side pulled up next to the entrance allowing the players to alight without having to deal with the handful of Thai fans who were waiting for them.
The team from Catalonia are not as popular in Thailand as Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, which gave fans this morning hope that a more intimate crowd would give them a better chance to see their heroes up close.
Fortunately for those waiting in the blistering heat some players stopped to greet the fans after training. Iniesta was the first to sign the football shirts and posters of fans, Dani Alves did the same, and to the absolute sheer delight of the fans, so did Neymar. Messi, sadly, casually strolled barefoot onto the team bus.
Neymar nearly starts a mini riot. Nearly.
