Fast & Furious: Bus No. 8 slams into skytrain pillar, 3 injured

A bus on Route No. 8, the line long infamous for awful service and dangerous driving, sped head-on into a concrete support column at BTS Ari yesterday, injuring three people and wrecking three vehicles.

Police rushed to the scene to find the bus cab wrapped around the pillar at a T-junction on Phaholyothin Road after it crashed into a pickup truck and two cars at around 4pm yesterday.

Jakkaphol Boonying, 27, said he was in the right lane near Soi Paholyothin 5 when the pickup truck on the other side of the road turned around to enter the soi. He said the truck rammed into the middle of the speeding bus, causing him to lose control and drive into the pillar, plowing into a Mazda and taxi in the oncoming lane which were waiting to turn into the soi.

Two bus passengers suffered minor injuries and were sent to Ratchawithi Hospital. Meanwhile, driver Jakkaphol sustained a minor leg injury. He was taken to Bang Sue police station for questioning.

Jakkaphol was charged with reckless driving, Daily News reported.
