Thailand to get a whole lot more Uniqlo

Japanese fashion powerhouse (and perennial challenger to H&M’s fast-fashion supremacy) Uniqlo has announced that it will expand its operations in Thailand by more than 100 stores within the next decade.

The announcement came as part of the press frenzy surrounding the opening of Uniqlo’s first store in Chiang Mai. The Nation reports that Uniqlo’s Chiang Mai outlet brings the company’s total store count in Thailand to seven. Its six other locations are all within Bangkok.

At present, Uniqlo operates approximately 1,200 stores throughout the world. Representatives of the company have vowed to expand aggressively in Thailand, aiming to open 100 retail outlets within the Kingdom by 2021.
