Filipino model Macasaet wins Manhunt

Pageant-loving Filipinos have another reason to celebrate: June Macasaet, their representative to the 2012 Manhunt International, won the title in the international male beauty pageant held in Bangkok last Nov. 9.

According to Coconuts Manila, this is the first time that the Philippines won in the competition. Macasaet, who also bagged the New Urban Male Ambassador special award, bested 52 other hunks and succeeds China’s Chen Jian Feng.

Examiner.com reports that Macasaet won a $10,000 cash prize, a modeling contract, $25,000 worth of beauty treatments, $5,000 worth of photographic portfolios, and other prizes worth more than $40,000. Sweden’s Bo Peter Jonsson was named first runner-up while Macau’s Martin Wang ended up second runner-up.

Before the Batangas City native was proclaimed the 16th winner of Manhunt International, another Filipino won in a competition held also in Thailand: transgender Kevin Balot, who was named Miss International Queen 2012 in a pageant held in Pattaya.

The Filipinos are sure on a roll.
